Hocus Pocus
Looking for something fun for family and friends to get together and enjoy this Halloween outside? Well grab a blanket, start a fire and snuggle up for a movie.
Yes I may have went over board for a small movie night, nahh who am I kidding it was perfect! I always go all in when hosting or planning a social gathering. Halloween is on a Saturday this year and with a Full Moon!!! I am extremely excited for this, maybe more than my son is. And with having this event outside you can still social distance, rona.
We plan on dressing up and getting on a hay ride to go around trick and treating and ending at our house for movie night with the family.
Now on to the details
Food prep: I am all for kids being kids, but less sugar is good in my household. So we had a heathy choice along with a not so heathy choice. You can pick and choose what you would like to sever what bests fits your needs. We have for drinks water, Halloween themed juice boxes (of course), hot tea, and hot chocolate. Main food to eat before snacks is chili, hot dogs, and squirrel with veggies. The kids will have fun cooking their own hot dog on the fire for their chili dogs. And yes I know what you are thinking, SQUIRREL!?!!! And I am a hunter and prefer fresh and what better way to do that then get up and go hunting for squirrel before the event. We put the squirrel in a crockpot with stock and veggies, which is a hit in my house. Who is ready for snacks? Yes tons of snacks. Mini cheese balls, Oreo cookies and applesauce which had to decked out in the Halloween theme. Pop corn and Halloween candy to fill treat bags for during the movie.
Outdoor prep:
We put up a screen and projector on a stand to show the movie on. Then got the fire ready and plenty of chairs placed all around. Do not forget to place blankets on the chairs to get snuggled up in. We are here in Mid- Missouri so it can be chilly outside at night this time of the year. We also placed Halloween green/purple and red/orange around the decks for lighting to see when walking in the dark. We set up a kid friendly station as well. It had everything for S'more making (we like to use Reese's and not just Hershey's for our s'mores). We even got pumpkin spice marshmallows. Outside night party is not complete for no child, until they have glow sticks!!!! We had assortment of glow sticks theme related. There was axes, rings, necklaces, and more. Included in the kid basket was vampire teeth, spiders, and bubbles.
